HEALY HUNT COVID-19 UPDATE

We have been through crises before but nothing quite like this one. Healy Hunt came into 2020 feeling confident, with a stellar 2019 behind us, an excellent team with a strong pipeline and a clear strategic vision for the year ahead. That strength will stand us in good stead now as our focus becomes more short term and we strive to be part of the solution for our clients while running our business in a responsible way.

Our clients, and companies in all sectors, have the same goal at this time, to emerge from the crisis unscathed and ready to perform. In the main, recruitment is on-going for senior and business critical hires. It is difficult to achieve the same level of rapport over the telephone and on video-conferencing but our long experience and the depth of our network mean we are still able to provide the professional service that our clients and candidates expect. We have noticed distinctly different approaches to remote recruitment by our clients and will explore this in a forthcoming post.

Meanwhile, much of the emphasis for specialists like Healy Hunt moves towards consultancy rather than purely transactional work. We are working to help clients with salary surveys, benchmarking, strategy and general preparation for when things eventually pick up. Strong candidates in certain disciplines are likely to be in high demand at the end of the lockdown so we are helping our clients to plan how new team structures may look and where talent shortages may exist, while engaging with our network to build benches as we plan for the new normal. We are here to support our clients and our candidates in any way that we can.

We have also noticed that candidates have an increased sense of risk. Some are hesitant about accepting excellent offers without extra security being built in. Where possible, we are facilitating negotiations in which the best talent is provided with reassuring terms to enable them to proceed with confidence. The flexibility shown by some of our clients has been impressive to say the least.

We are fortunate to be a strongly managed business that understands from experience how to come through a crisis period. As you face your own challenges, Healy Hunt wishes the best of health to you, your family, friends and colleagues. Stay safe and well.
